Why choose JRS?
JRS is inspired by the leadership of Pope Francis to act with courage and enthusiasm as we strive to accompany, serve, and advocate the cause of refugees. Pope Francis has called on the world to welcome, protect, promote, and integrate refugees.
JRS welcomes refugees through our many support programmes, and promotes social inclusion by bringing host communities and refugees together. In JRS projects, service centres, schools, and every place where we are present, we focus on the value of hospitality.
JRS protects refugees by providing them with legal assistance as they navigate the complex process of claiming their rights as refugees. We also campaign for safer routes and better options for people fleeing violence and persecution.
JRS promotes the integral human development of refugees through our education and livelihood-training programmes. JRS recognizes that refugees are agents of their own change, and we strive to provide them with opportunities to create a better future for themselves and their communities.
JRS integrates refugees through all our programmes and initiatives, believing that refugees who experience healing and have access to learning will find opportunities to thrive in their place of exile, or when they are eventually able to return home.

Jesuit Refugee Service recognizes its ethical and legal obligation to protect and promote the physical, mental, and spiritual well-being of staff. In the Global Staff Care Project, JRS accompanies and empowers all JRS staff to be the healthiest and happiest versions of themselves. Through the Jesuit tradition of Cura Personalis: “Care for the Whole Person”; we care and respect for an individual’s unique experiences, strengths, and needs.
The JRS Global Staff Care Project is based on four coinciding priority areas: safety & security, psychosocial support, work conditions and environment, and the integration of staff support into our organisational policies and structure.
